Let's reconvene and begin our year as a local Marist Association group with an inside look at the 2024 Mission Assembly which was attended by a number of members of the Star of the Sea Province. Hear about the latest developments in Marist education and the global family we are.

Come along to Mt Druitt and engage with the ministry and community connections of Silvia, Rubén and Br Lawrie from the Lavalla Community.

10-year Regional Sydney Marist celebration gathering with members of the Secretariat of the Laity

You are warmly invited to attend a Regional Marist Association Gathering for the Sydney Region to be hosted by the Local Association Group at St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill.

The Regional Gathering is open to all so please feel free to invite colleagues or friends from your school or ministry who may not be members of the Association.

We will gather at 4pm in the beautiful Farrell Auditorium at St Joseph’s College for some drinks and nibbles and to share the Marist family spirit. Br Michael Green will be our special guest speaker to offer some inspiring words to us on the journey of the Marist Association and looking ahead to the future, then a tour of the historic College Chapel will be offered for those interested.

2025 Marian Lecture with

Professor Stan Grant

Pilgrims of Hope: Look Beyond
Award winning journalist, author, moral philosopher, thinker, film maker and communicator Stan Grant will challenge us in a dynamic presentation, offering a pathway for humanity which inspireshope for all in a fracturing world.

Stan Grant is a Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi and Dharrawal man who has blazed a trail for First Nations journalists in a four-decade career

reporting from more than 80 countries. Stan is a three-time winner of Australia’s highest journalism honour the Walkley Award. As a writer, he has published several books

and is currently working on his first novel. He holds a Doctor of Letters from the University of New South Wales, and in 2024 was awarded the Doctor of Theology degree from Charles Sturt University. He continues to write for national and international news publications.

All are welcome to our annual gathering to celebrate St Marcellin Champagnat and Renew our Commitment as Marists. Join together for eucharist with Fr Anthony Casamento CSMA, followed by a simple meal to celebrate the Founder of Marist education and the inspiration for our Association.

Out of Dreaming: Into ActionNational Assembly IV of theMarist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat

It's been some time since many of us gathered at Mary MacKillop Place in North Sydney for the last National Assembly of the Marist Association. In 2025 we will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Marist Association and gather for the fourth National Assembly.

Preparation for the Assembly will take the form of a spiritual conversation process, culminating in the National Assembly gathering. Over a period of several months, there will be online and face-to-face dialogue between Association Members regarding the spirituality, ministries and future direction of the Association, as well as reporting on outcomes from the 2022 National Assembly. Following this dialogue, a large in-person gathering will be held in Brisbane on 27- 29 June. The process will culminate in strategic recommendations for the new Association Council and the commissioning of the new Council.

June is a perfect time to visit the Sunshine State, so book your flights and accommodation!

Mid-Winter Retreat

with Dr Sally Longley

This annual retreat offers a time of insight and renewal through a process of quiet reflection, spiritual reading and quality input.

In 2025 the retreat will be facilitated by Dr Sally Longley, taking up the theme Pilgrims of Hope, with a focus on the biblical notion of hope, grace and choice.

Sally is a retreat leader, spiritual director, and author based in Sydney and is a past president of the Australian Network for Spiritual Direction. Her most recent books include Walking the Labyrinth as the Beloved in John’s Gospel and Conversations with Silence: Rosetta Stone of the Soul.

Commences 10.30am and finishes 1.30pm

We'll be attending the 8.10pm session of Twinless, with a 6.00pm dinner reservation at Fratelli Fresh for those who'd like to join in. Feel free to attend the whole evening or just the movie, or just dinner.

Who can resist our annual gathering held on the lush lawns of Sydney's iconic Royal Botanic Garden?

Try out a new picnic recipe and bring it along as well as drinks to share with members and friends of our group. We'll also spend a little time agreeing on our 2026 plans.

We suggest bringing picnic rugs and chairs to make the time comfortable.

Meet at 11.30am at the Palace Rose Garden and Pavilion, entering via the Morshead Gate or Palace Garden gate. or join us down on the Fig Tree Lawn soon after.
